Mr Vanish Patel, an excellent Doctor. From me meeting him before my Hernia Procedure for the first time, he made me feel very relaxed and assured everything was going to be ok, as I was very nervous. He is very professional and polite. After my procedure when back at my room mr Vanish Patel popped in and saw me again, explaining different things I could experience through the night. The next morning at 7:30 mr Patel popped in and saw me again making sure I was ok. Very caring about his patients and very professional.

Mr Patel demonstrated care, competence, commitment and kindness during all the period I was under his care. He was ready to listen and take time to describe and explain matters concerning the surgery and recovery.

The pre-operation discussion was excellent and I knew totally what to expect. The operation itself was very well carried out. Mr Patel is very approachable and understanding. Highly recommend him for inguinal hernia repairs!

This was followed by two fellowships at St Mark’s Hospital London and the London Colorectal Fellowship (Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and University College Hospital).

In addition to my clinical work, I have wide research interests which have been established through my MSc in surgical science and a PhD both attained from Imperial College London. My research focuses on collaboration, leadership and mentoring in healthcare, which has culminated in numerous peer-reviewed publications in a broad range of surgical disciplines and international and national conference presentations.

I currently work as a consultant colorectal and general surgeon at Watford General Hospital and Spire Bushey Hospital.
